The Faculty of Health was established under the name of “Faculty of Health and Nutrition” in 1991 by incorporating the departments of Biochemistry and Nutrition of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Health Department of the Faculty of Medicine; and the department of Disease Control and Environmental Health of the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences. The Faculty of Health was located at the building of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Rehabilitation and Dentistry for several years. In 2001, the faculty was relocated to its main building and formally began its educational activities. The Faculty of Health began its research and educational activities in 2012.
 
Objectives
The main aim of the Faculty of Health is to educate and train students in various fields of Health Sciences to improve health (environmental health, air, water, sewage, waste) and to provide health services and train expert manpower. To achieve these objectives, in addition to cooperation with other faculties, the Faculty of Health is working and cooperating with other academic, educational and governmental and nongovernmental institutions.
Currently, students in 11 fields and at three levels (B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D.) are being educated in the Faculty of Health.
The necessary correspondence and actions have been done to establish the following majors in the faculty: Environmental Health (in Ph.D. level), and Biostatistics, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Waste Management, Environmental Health Engineering (air pollution) and Operation and Maintenance of Municipal Utilities (all at M.Sc. levels). The Faculty includes a library, 10 classrooms, an amphitheater, the offices of the faculty members and staffs as well as numerous laboratories.

Facilities of the Faculty
The facilities include water and wastewater laboratories, water and waste water microbiology and drawing room. There are also 3 computer rooms (public and specialized) for MSc and PhD students. The faculty is involved in various research and educational activities. Road Accidents Research Center and Student Research Center are located in the faculty. The library and computer rooms are available for the staff and students and all faculty members have access to the internet.

Awards
-         The title of “Top Researcher” at the university level by Dr. Mohammad Asghari Jafarabadi in research festival 2015
-         The title of “Top Department” by Statistics and Epidemiology department in research festival 2015
-         The journal of Health Promotion Perspectives (HPP) was indexed in PubMed database in 2015
Faculty members achieved good rankings in the internal research festival. The faculty was titled as “best department in the Research Festival” and “highest percentage of growth in research” in 2008 and 2010 respectively.
